Insulin Clinics / About

About & editorial policy

Insulin Clinics is a plain-language reference on insulin therapy. Despite the name, it is not a clinic: it does not see patients, provide care, or give individual advice.

Last updated: October 2026

If this is an emergency — severe low blood sugar, vomiting with high blood sugar, confusion, or trouble breathing — call your local emergency number now. This site is reference information, not medical advice.

What we are

Insulin Clinics is an independent educational website. Our scope is narrow on purpose: insulin therapy and the questions that surround it. We do not cover every aspect of diabetes, every medication, or every clinical scenario. We aim to be useful for the things people actually search for — what insulin does, how it is dosed, what to do when something goes wrong — and to point clearly to the care team for everything else.

What we are not

Editorial policy

Sources

We write to align with mainstream clinical sources. Clinical pages are based on the following, and we say so when sources disagree:

The cost and access page is based instead on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rules and published manufacturer and nonprofit program terms, and lists its sources at the end of the page.

When we describe specific timing or thresholds (for example, the 15-15 rule, time-in-range targets, the 4 mm needle recommendation), we use ranges that mainstream sources agree on. When sources differ — for example, on in-use shelf life of specific insulin products — we note the disagreement and direct readers to the package insert or their pharmacist.

Review and dates

Each page shows the date it was last updated. Pages are written and checked against the published sources above. We do not currently list individual medical reviewers; if and when named clinicians review pages, their names and credentials will be shown on those pages. Until then, please treat every page as general background information to discuss with your own care team.

Updates

Pages are reviewed at least annually and updated sooner when:

No industry funding

We do not accept money, advertising, sponsored content, or in-kind support from insulin manufacturers, device makers, pharmacy benefit managers, or pharmaceutical wholesalers. We do not run advertising of any kind. We do not use affiliate links. We do not sell visitor data (see privacy for the analytics we use).

This is intentional. Most patient-facing content about insulin online is produced by parties with a financial interest in what you take. We think the lack of one is the most useful thing we can offer.

Privacy

This site uses Google Analytics (Google tag) to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. We use these reports only in aggregate to improve the content; we do not sell visitor data, run advertising, or use affiliate links.

You can block analytics with your browser's privacy settings, a content blocker, or Google's opt-out browser add-on. The site does not use third-party fonts, and it has no forms or accounts, so we do not collect your name or health information through the site. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs for security and operations.

Suggesting a correction

If you find a factual error, an out-of-date piece of information, or a passage that is unclear or could be made more accurate, please tell us. Specific is better than general — a sentence and a source go further than "this is wrong."

We have not yet published a contact address. When we do, it will appear on the contact page, which also explains what kind of feedback is most useful.

Accessibility

The site is built as plain HTML with no images and no third-party fonts; the only script is the analytics tag described above, and every page works without it. It works in screen readers, on slow connections, in older browsers, and offline once a page has loaded. If you find an accessibility problem, please let us know.
